We guarantee the excellence of our quality and services from a dedicated team of Engineering and Customer Service specialists. With an extensive collection of tools and technology, we are able to design and modify parts, cast and heat treatment on site, machine and inspect the part with accuracy and precision inside a 70’000 square foot complex that is fully equipped with foundry technology and machine shop.

Foundry

The foundry at our site is capable of pouring alloys with various technologies including conventional no bake sand, 3D printed molds, centrifugal molds and the newly added multi-axis CNC robot sand mold. The foundry is set up to pour castings ranging in weight from 30 pounds to 1’000 pounds.

In addition to pouring castings, the foundry has additional support items to meet customer demands. We can provide a customer with heat treatment, certified material test reports and chemical analysis. The facility can also perform a number of tests on material and products including:

  • Liquid Penetrant testing (through a certified contractor)
  • Wet/Dry Magnetic Particle testing (through a certified contractor)
  • NDT testing (through an outside accredited lab or contractor)
  • Impact testing (through an outside accredited lab or contractor)
  • Hardness testing
  • Tensile testing
  • Hydro testing

We can provide molds in four different ways:

CNC Robot Sand Machining

  • 5-Axis CNC robot for sand molding machine
  • Castings up to 27 in., larger possible with segmented cores
  • Supported by on-site part modeling and programming

Centrifugal Casting

  • Sleeves ranging from 3 to 16 inches in dia. and up to 48 in. in length

No Bake Sand

  • Wood patterns (customer supplied or new development)
  • Flask sizes ranging from 14 to 60 in.

3D Sand Printing

  • Molds created in less than 48 hours
  • Casting sizes ranging up to 17 in.
  • Supported by on-site part modeling

Customer Service

An on-site customer service department will assist customers by providing quick and accurate parts data. The customer service team can provide pricing for parts and lead times by gathering basic information from the customer including shape, size and material of the part.

Engineering

The engineering department plays a vital role in the parts manufacturing business. With full reverse engineering means and design capabilities that include hydraulic and mechanical modifications, the engineering department is able to aid in solving customer problems.

Data acquisition is accomplished through the use of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Sulzer has several FARO CMMs on location, which allow on-site data acquisition. These machines have articulated arms that gather three-dimensional data within a six foot sphere, and allow obtained dimensions to be repeatable to within 0.001 in.

We use a dedicated server for electronic drawing storage and access. The database includes over 300’000 drawings, complemented with over 400’000 customer inventory records.

Machine Shop

The machine shop uses both CNC and manual equipment to manufacture pump parts. A recent investment of over $2 million allowed to upgrade and modernize the machines and equipment in order to meet customers' needs and requests in an accurate and timely fashion.

Sulzer produces a wide variety of turned, milled and ground components. CNC lathes and mills contribute to the reliability and accuracy in machining several parts, including shafts, sleeves, impellers, suction covers, and diffusers, among several other critical service components. We can machine parts to very high tolerances, meeting the most demanding of applications. Parts that meet military specifications and parts for high energy applications can also be produced.
