Water is essential in all plants for transport, washing, dilution, cooling, sealing and scrubbing. Depending on the application, the quality of the water will vary and so will the operating parameters of the applications.

Considering the fertilizer industry from the raw material to finished products, we distinguish the following water activities: mine water management, water intake and transportation, industrial water and wastewater treatment, cooling water, process water and boiling water applications.

Mine water management

To keep up the productivity of the mine, well-performing and reliable dewatering equipment is a must. Depending on the type of the mine and process, specific applications (e.g. drainage, booster pumping, stope pumping, active dewatering, shaft bottom drainage, settling ponds and sumps) with dedicated equipment are needed.

  • Dewatering
Fast dewatering of a worksite is critical to productivity. Knowing which pump is best for the job depends on many factors. Job conditions and deadlines set different requirements for choosing the right pump type. When you need to move water at construction sites, in tunnels or mines, in ship yards, for irrigation and in other applications, we will help you to choose the right pump for the job.
Water intake and water treatment

When fresh water is needed, the sourcing of raw water is highly critical and two main parameters have to be considered: the quality of the raw water, and the location of the source. We bring the water from its natural source to where it is needed and we also provide support for the analysis of the whole pumping system.

Industrial water and wastewater treatment

At the forefront, raw water must often be treated before being used in industrial applications. And at the end of the process, the treatment of wastewater is a must to limit the consumption of fresh water and reduce pollution as targeted by most environmental policies and legislations.

  • Desalination
As a global leader in pump design and manufacture, Sulzer is recognized for delivering the excellent product quality and performance reliability for the most critical applications in Desalination. Based on our experience and proven technology we help you operate your plants more efficiently. We share our expertise with you and create for you enduring and economical solutions.

  • Industrial water treatment
We provide reliable pumping solutions for various industrial water and wastewater treatment processes. Our technologies enable the removal of organics.
Process water, cooling water and boiling water unit

Process and cooling water applications exist everywhere in a plant. They require a complete range of standard and well-performing equipment. In the boiler unit, more specific equipment is needed with safety, reliability and efficiency being the keywords. To cover these various applications, Sulzer offers a complete range of horizontal and vertical pumps, either single-stage or multi-stage.

  • Axially split pumps
Sulzer offers a wide range of double suction axially split pumps, which includes both single and multistage designs. Each product range has special design features for targeted industry applications.

  • Ring section pumps
Sulzer has a long tradition of supplying ring section mid- to high-pressure pumps to all kinds of industrial applications. The M-series is designed in a modular way based on different ranges of pressures for use in a wide range of applications, primarily for pumping clean or slightly polluted liquids.

  • Single stage pumps
Our range of single-stage pumps can be designed either using the end suction overhang impeller design method, or the impeller between bearing design method. These pumps comply with either ISO 5199 / ISO 2858, ASME B73.1 or API 610 standards and guarantee reliable pumping processes.

  • Vertical pumps
Sulzer vertical pumps are used in applications with low net positive suction head (NPSH), cryogenic temperatures, where vertical lift is required, and in sump and cooling water services.
