Pumping solutions for the nuclear industry

Sulzer is at the forefront of pump design and manufacturing. Working with operators and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, we deliver the most reliable and efficient pumping equipment to the power generation sector.

Engineered to suit specific applications, Sulzer’s pumps are tailored to meet the exacting criteria of the nuclear industry. Our portfolio of pumping products covers almost every application, from the smallest process pump to the largest high-pressure boiler feed pump.

On the stand at WNE, you will be able to see a sample of some of our pumps and talk with our experienced staff about the advantages Sulzer offers to the industry.

Pump retrofits

Sulzer is at the cutting-edge of retrofit solutions, which enable pump operators to maintain and upgrade existing assets quickly and efficiently. Our pump design expertise enables us to deliver the most effective solution in terms of performance and investment.

Retrofit solutions enable existing pumping assets to be upgraded with new components, even if the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) no longer supports the product. Using modern materials and the latest in laser scanning technology to reverse engineer new components, Sulzer can extend the service life of important pumps with minimal downtime.

Power generation facilities can quickly enhance their competitiveness using targeted pump retrofit programs to improve reliability and efficiency, which deliver significant savings. Sulzer has the expertise and the engineering facilities to deliver these projects quickly and effectively.

Additive manufacturing

Sulzer is leading the way in developing additive manufacturing technology and qualifying it as an approved manufacturing and repair process for components in the nuclear industry. Working with power plant operators and national standards commissions, Sulzer is helping to advance repair techniques and extend the reliability of equipment.

The use of additive manufacturing enables the lead time for replacement parts to be shortened considerably but the technology and processes involved need to be carefully assessed and qualified.

Sulzer is manufacturing a trial pump impeller using additive manufacturing and every step, from raw material sources to final inspection will be minutely examined before undergoing application tests to assess overall performance.
