Contract signed for acquisition of turbo service provider Capime
Sulzer Turbo Services to Expand Presence in South America

Sulzer has signed an agreement to acquire the privately owned turbomachinery service-provider Capime. The company is based in Argentina and serves customers across South America. It achieved sales of approximately CHF 13 million in 2007 and employs around 90 persons. With this acquisition, Sulzer Turbo Services will expand its business in South America and strengthen the platform for further growth in that region.

Capime provides repair, maintenance, and installation services for a variety of turbines, turbine components, and auxiliary systems in various countries in South America. Capime focuses on customers in the power utilities and the oil and gas upstream and downstream segments. The company also provides replacement parts, component repairs, and field services.

The privately owned Capime business was founded by Daniel Corallo in 1975. The acquisition follows a long period of ongoing business relationships between Sulzer Turbo Services and Capime. The business will be integrated into the division Sulzer Turbo Services. Closing is expected towards the end of 2008.

Sulzer Turbo Services is the largest independent provider of repair and maintenance services for thermal turbomachinery and other rotating equipment. The division also manufactures and sells replacement parts for gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors. Sulzer Turbo Services’ customers are located in the oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, power generation, and other industrial markets.
