Sulzer Metco strengthens coating services business in the automotive industry
Sulzer Metco acquires Select Powertrain Technologies (30/07/2002, Media Release)
On July 29, 2002, Sulzer Metco has signed a purchase agreement to acquire the assets and technology of Select Powertrain Technologies Corp. in Dayton (Ohio, USA) from the privately held Select International Corp. With 20 employees, Select Powertrain’s sales are about USD 4 million (CHF 6 million).

Select Powertrain develops, manufactures and distributes carbon-based friction products for powertrain applications for the automotive industry such as synchronizer rings, clutch discs and other gearshift components. Euroflamm GmbH in Germany, a member of the Sulzer Metco group, and Select Powertrain have been working together closely and successfully during the last three years. Therefore, the assets and technologies of Select Powertrain will be integrated very smoothly. The parties have agreed not do disclose price details. The new company will be called Euroflamm Select Inc.

The division supplies a broad range of thermal spray and PVD equipment, materials, fully integrated systems, and coating services, as well as manufactured components.
