Detectives Working on Behalf of the Clients

Failures can often be traced back to the tiniest flaw in the material. Poor machining was the reason for the failure of this broken steering arm mounted in the front axle of a racing car.

Sulzer Innotec analyses failed components and names the causes

Increasing automation and miniaturization, difficult operating conditions, and cost pressures all increase the strain on components and materials in machines and plants. These are repeatedly subjected to stresses and strains at their load limits; however, it should be noted that damage can never be fully avoided. It is often the small, inconspicuous defects that lead to failure which, in turn, result in additional costs for repairs and production outages. Sulzer Innotec analyzes damage on behalf of its customers by employing a number of techniques, including materials testing. The specialists work together with their clients to draw up strategies to solve problems and avoid follow-up damage.
