Following the recent disaster in Japan, we would like to express our deep compassion with the Japanese people.
Regarding our own exposure and the situation of our supply chain we have established an emergency group under the lead of Corporate. All information will be regularly updated and communicated accordingly to our stakeholders as the situation develops.
In connection with occurrences in Japan we have been contacted by several customers to clarify the impacts on the safety of Sulzer's products and our ability to supply. We can confirm at this stage that none of our locations have been directly impacted. Regarding our sub-suppliers we do not expect any critical impacts for the moment. If the stability of supply from any particular source should become an issue, we will inform all affected customers directly about the situation and the required actions.
In respect of radioactive contamination we carry out all the required controls, which include also regular controls of and instructions to our international transport carriers. If our customers require testing procedures which exceed the legal requirements, this will be handled as subject to individual and specific agreements.
Please understand that our responses to individual requests may need some time due to the fact that we want to consider each situation individually and accordingly. But be assured, we will do everything we possibly can to minimize any potential impact to your business operations.
For further questions in this respect please contact your contact person at Sulzer or send an e-mail to safety@sulzer.com.
