Sulzer Repco, a company of Sulzer Turbo Services, was recently invited by a chemical plant to do a repair following the breakdown of a centrifugal compressor. The planetary gearbox had a major failure with a sudden Stop. This caused an overload on the couplings and resulted in a twisted taper on the compressor. Sulzer Repco was able to immediately provide the manpower and is currently working round the clock to get the centrifugal compressor working again. The spare compressor has been brought to the workshop where the rotor was removed, checked, and repaired. The rotor was then reinstalled into the machine. | |
