The structure of the coating layer can be adjusted, with the same target composition, within a broad parameter field ranging from fine columnar to nanocrystalline, and can thus be matched to requirements. The Metaplas machining series layers therefore exhibit high hardness, thermal stability and resistance to oxidation. Mtec also offers ideal bond-layer properties. Mtec is suitable, in particular, for use in chip-removing machining of heat-treated and austenitic steels and a range of high-temperature alloys such as titanium-, TiAl- and nickel-base alloys.
Mpower is the first in a series of micro-alloyed coatings with best performance for mould-making, particularly where service conditions are more difficult. Mpowercoated tools can machine tool and plastic-mould steels of moderate hardness but high carbide content with high precision and with a practically polished surface after finish-machining. Sulzer Metco will present the new coating at the trade fairs Grindtec and Metav in Germany. |
