After 40 successful years with Sulzer, César Montenegro, Division President of Sulzer’s Pumps Equipment division, has chosen to formally retire and will step down from the Executive Committee as of December 31, 2017.

César joined Sulzer in 1977. After his first assignment in Venezuela, he moved to Houston, Texas, USA, as an applications engineer in 1985 and became the Regional Manager of the Andean Countries in 1987. Later, César became Managing Director of Sulzer Venezuela, Sulzer Mexico and Regional Manager for Sulzer South America. In 2002, he was appointed President of the North America Region and became President of Sulzer Metco in 2008. Since June 2014, César has headed the Pumps Equipment division for Sulzer and has been the driving force behind its transformation.

César’s leadership and innovation has kept Sulzer ahead of its pump competitors and the company is indebted to him for his drive and dedication.

Michael Streicher will succeed César on January 1, 2018, as Division President Pumps Equipment and Sulzer Executive Committee member. Michael Streicher joined Sulzer in 1994 in Germany as an engineer. He became General Manager of the German pump service business in 1998 and was appointed Managing Director of Sulzer Pumps Germany in 2007. In June 2014, he was appointed Head of the Power and Spare Parts Business Units, and since June 2016, Michael has been Vice President of the EMEA region for the Rotating Equipment Services division.

“It is with much emotion that I see César Montenegro retiring but I’m also thrilled that Michael Streicher is picking up the mantle. I’m extremely confident that, under Michael Streicher’s leadership, we will continue on our path of innovation and profitable growth,” said Sulzer CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume.
