Clamping tools coated with Maxit® W-C:Hmod |
Friction, adhesion, and abrasion influence the operability and the service life of various technical processes and installations. The new W-C:Hmod coatings by Metaplas Ionon, a Sulzer Metco company, have been developed on the basis of the well-proven W-C:H coatings. The layers are applied at 200 °C using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD). The structured multi-layer composition of the metallic DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) coating reduces tribological influences like friction and adhesion. Because graphite layers are incorporated in the coating, it is possible to combine reduced friction with outstanding performance during dry-running operation. Due the exceptional structure of the layer, pitting and tribooxidation can be avoided. |
