In October 2007, RWE, a major German utility, awarded Sulzer Pumpen Deutschland (Germany) with the order for engineering and possible supply of feed and booster pumps for its 2×800-MW power plants at the locations Hamm (Germany) and Eemshaven (the Netherlands). The scope of supply includes geared variable-speed couplings by Voith. The first pump units will be delivered in January 2010. Commercial operation is planned for July 2011. | |

The product division of Sulzer Enpro Inc., a company of Sulzer Turbo Services in New Orleans (US), recently received orders from a major pipeline company for engine/ compressor upgrades at their locations in Mississippi and Florida. These upgrades include shielded Altronic digital ignition systems and Altronic fuel valves. The fuel valves replace the old-style governors presently in service and will make the engines more efficient in terms of emissions and save fuel in their operation. In addition to the ignition systems and fuel valves, Sulzer Enpro will also supply the field service labor necessary to install and commission the systems. This project will cover a total of 14 engines. | |

In August 2007, Sulzer Pumpen Deutschland (Germany) received the order for the supply of the turbo boiler-feed pump with a booster pump for the coal-fired 1100-MW power station Datteln in north Rhine Westphalia (DE). In addition, the contract includes options for further 3 identical pump units for the blocks of the Konvoi type. The turbo feed pumps will feature axial face seals. The pumps for the power station Datteln will be delivered in November 2009. The commercial operation is planned to start in 2011. | |

At the end of 2007, Sulzer Elbar, a Dutch company of Sulzer Turbo Services, received orders from 2 customers for manufacture and supply of first stage rotating blades and a stage-2 nozzle assembly of two popular types of gas turbines. The nozzle order is Sulzer Elbar’s first out of China for this type and will be delivered and installed during 2008. Since there are over 60 gas turbines of this type in operation in China, the order is a breakthrough in this promising market for Sulzer Elbar’s new-parts program. Also in Asia, Sulzer Elbar was awarded a contract to manufacture and supply 2 sets of stage-1 blades for a different type of gas turbine. These new blades will be delivered at the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009. | |
