Sulzer Metco is setting up US platform for its PVD coating service business
Sulzer Metco acquires DB Thin Films
On December 20, 2002 Sulzer Metco signed a purchase agreement to acquire the assets of the privately held DB Thin Films LLC in Woonsocket (Rhode Island, USA). With 20 employees, DB Thin Films sales are about USD 2 million (CHF 3 million).

DB Thin Films is a provider of customized surface coatings using the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology for both decorative and functional applications. Metaplas Ionon GmbH in Germany, a member of the Sulzer Metco division, and DB Thin Films have been working together successfully during the last two years. Therefore, the assets and capabilities of DB Thin Films will be integrated very smoothly. The parties have agreed not to disclose price details. The new company will be called Sulzer Metaplas (US) Inc.

Eduard Rikli, President of the Sulzer Metco division: “This acquisition enables Sulzer Metco to set up an US platform for its recently acquired company Metaplas Ionon in order to market complete PVD coating systems and coating services.”
