Urs Fankhauser new Head of Sulzer Chemtech
Urs Fankhauser has been appointed new head of Sulzer Chemtech, a Division of the Sulzer Corporation headquartered in Winterthur (Switzerland). Per January 1, 2002 this 41-year-old mechanical engineer with MBA will succeed José Galindez, who will take over a company in his home country Spain. Urs Fankhauser, currently market area manager North and South America, has held several management positions since 1986 in a number of Sulzer divisions.

Urs Fankhauser, a Swiss citizen, has been with Sulzer Chemtech since 1989. During this time he has acquired long-standing international experience with his assignments in Asia and America. In his opinion the company is well situated: "I am delighted to take over Sulzer Chemtech. The company is very well positioned strategically, and I relish the challenge of mastering a difficult market situation".

José Galindez, 45, has been head of Sulzer Chemtech since 1999. After 15 years with the Sulzer Corporation, he has now decided to take up a new challenge in his home country of Spain.

Sulzer CEO Fred Kindle on this management change: "Urs Fankhauser as new head of Sulzer Chemtech brings with him a well-proven track record based on the success achieved in two key markets for Sulzer Chemtech. At the same time I sincerely thank José Galindez for his valuable services; his return to his home country Spain fulfils a long-cherished desire. We wish him every success and satisfaction in his future career outside the Sulzer Corporation". 

Sulzer Chemtech, active worldwide in the process technology field, employs around 1100 people. The company is present in all main industrialized countries, and repeatedly sets new standards in mass transfer technology with high-efficiency cost-effective solutions. Apart from component development and production, the offering includes engineering and other related services. Sulzer Chemtech sales for the first half-year 2001 totalled CHF 149 million (annual sales 2000: CHF 293 million).
