Strengthening activities in water markets
Today, Sulzer has signed an agreement to acquire the privately-owned pump company Hidrotecar S.A. in Burgos, Spain. The acquired company achieved sales of EUR 13 million (approximately CHF 16 million) in 2010 and employs about 50 co-workers. The board of directors of Sulzer has appointed Jürgen Brandt as Chief Executive Officer of Sulzer as of November 1, 2011, on an ad interim basis.

Growth of 16.5% in order intake
In the first nine months of 2011, Sulzer received orders of CHF 2 647.1 million. This was an adjusted 1 increase of 16.5% (nominal increase of 8.2%) compared with the same period of the previous year. Further strengthening of Sulzer’s market presence—water and wastewater to become a key strategic market
The announced acquisition of Cardo Flow Solutions was completed on July 29, 2011. For a total cash consideration of SEK 5.9 billion (CHF 852 million), Sulzer acquired one of the leading suppliers of pumps and related equipment in the attractive wastewater market. First half of 2011: Strong performance and major acquisition announced

Today, Sulzer has successfully launched a new CHF-denominated 2.25% domestic bond issue in the aggregate principal amount of CHF 500 million for a term of 5 years (due date July 11, 2016). The capital will be deployed as part of the financing of the acquisition of Cardo’s Flow Solutions business announced in April for a total cash consideration of SEK 5.9 billion (CHF 858 million 1). Change in top management
Ton Büchner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sulzer, has decided to leave Sulzer in order to pursue a career opportunity outside the company. He will become the CEO of AkzoNobel, a coatings and specialty chemicals company, headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Ton Büchner will leave Sulzer in the fourth quarter of 2011. Sulzer publishes sustainability performance indicators for 2010
Sulzer today releases indicators for its social and ecological performance in 2010. The data were assessed by the external assurance company SGS and are available under www.sulzer.com/sustainability

Sulzer Chemtech further strengthens its position in service activities
On April 15, 2011, Sulzer Chemtech acquired the privately-owned maintenance specialist C.L. Engenharia Ltda. in Brazil. The acquired company achieved sales of BRL 20.6 million (approximately CHF 11.7 million) in 2010. With this acquisition, Sulzer Chemtech will enhance the competitiveness of its tower field service activities in Brazil by adding the competencies of a local contractor with a skilled crew. Read more
