Key Social Targets and Achievements

Targets
With the long-term goal of zero occupational accidents, Sulzer set a more stringent target for the accident frequency rate (AFR)—it should be under 4.5 by 2010. The voluntary attrition rate should not exceed 6%. The focused succession management strives to fill 70% of vacant leadership positions with internal candidates.

Achievements
With concerted measures, Sulzer has reduced its accident frequency rate by more than 60% since 2006. In 2010, the accident frequency rate decreased to 4.4 cases per million working hours (from 5.6 in 2009). The voluntary attrition rate amounted to 6.4% in 2010. In the same year, 64% of leadership positions were filled with internal candidates.
