Experience Sulzer in the Automotive Industry

Performance and reliability are top priorities:

High tech for the latest engines
The challenge in automobile construction is to continually improve engine performance and safety while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Sulzer helps to achieve this with sophisticated surface technologies like thermal coatings and thin-film technologies.

Sulzer’s special engine coatings reduce diesel or gasoline use by around four percent, and halve the amount of oil needed. In thermal spraying, the coating material is melted, accelerated by inert process gases, and then sprayed onto the surface to be coated, or substrate. During thin-film processing, physical and chemical processes form protective layers on substrate. These special coatings increase resistance to corrosion and engine durability.
